Chiropractic Care

We provide advanced spinal correction and chiropractic adjustments utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic care have chiropractors been able to provide the level of help and expertise that is available today. Many of the newest chiropractic techniques are actually safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As a chiropractor who cares about utilizing the most advanced chiropractic techniques, Dr. Mick McConnell has years of training, expertise and experience in helping patients get pain relief for back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other related conditions originating from the spine. Chiropractic care under a trained professional can even be used to prevent injuries and help you achieve total health or wellness.

Active Release Technique

In addition to chiropractic adjustments and corrective exercise, we value the benefits  that soft-tissue release and mobilization can have on a patient’s improvement.  We  utilize  both manual, hands-on muscle release on trigger points and problem areas, as  well as instrument-assisted myofascial release.  Muscular imbalance or irregularity can have a  profound effect on your daily life and performance, increasing poor movement patterns and provoking pain.  A focus on soft-tissue care can make a huge difference to your comfort  and mobility, enabling you to get back to the sports or hobbies that you enjoy.

Corrective Exercises

At Balanced Movement Chiropractic, we teach our patients how to perform special "blueprint" exercises which can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in their body which may be causing pain. Many of these corrective exercises can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan. In addition to skeletal misalignment, you may be experiencing pain that is caused by muscles and connective tissues which are out of their proper place. Other types of pain such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches are caused by muscles and tissues that are being used improperly, causing injuries over time. In each case, targeted corrective exercises and stretches from our experienced chiropractor will help you feel good while also helping your body achieve balance and health.

Kinesiology Taping with Rocktape

A rehabilitative taping method that allows free range of motion, Rocktape allows the body’s muscular system to heal itself biomechanically. By microscopically lifting the skin, it alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage. It also reeducates the neuromuscular system, enhances performance, prevents injury, and aids injury resolution by giving support and stability to your joints and muscles.  Increases in circulation give endurance and improve athletic performance.

In contrast, more traditional sports tape is wrapped around a joint strictly for stabilization and support during an athletic event. Taping can be used to treat anything from headaches to foot problems and everything in between. It’s used for rehabilitation from sports injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back strain/pain, knee and shoulder conditions. It is also used for groin injuries, rotator cuff injuries, whiplash, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, patella tracking, pre and post-surgical edema, ankle sprains, athletic preventative injury method, and as a support method.

SFMA

The SFMA is a movement based diagnostic system, designed to clinically assess 7 fundamental movement patterns in those with known musculoskeletal pain. The assessment provides an efficient method to systematically find the cause of symptoms, not just the source, by logically breaking down dysfunctional patterns and diagnosing their root cause as either a mobility problem or a stability/motor control problem.

This systematic process allows the doctors at Balanced Movement Chiropractic to match the treatment to the main problem of the patient.

 FMS

FMS is a screening tool used to identify limitations or asymmetries in seven fundamental movement patterns that are key to functional movement quality in individuals with no current pain complaint or known musculoskeletal injury.

These movement patterns are designed to provide observable performance of basic movement and stability, allowing the doctors at Balanced Movement to identify movement dysfunction before it leads to pain or injury.

 Neurokinetic Therapy

NKT is a corrective movement therapy using muscle testing. It helps determine if muscles are working too much (facilitated) or not enough (inhibited) during movement due to compensation from injury and repetitive activity. Either can cause pain or tightness. This technique allows the doctors to determine what areas need treatment and what treatment will work the best.
